  99. 2.2 MATERIALS
  100.  
  101.     A.  Piping Cover System:  Modular, snap-fit cover units,
  102.         clips, and anchors, which once assembled, render the
  103.         cover essentially irremovable with the use of ordinary
  104.         tools; UL listed for use with CPVC piping systems.
  105.  
  106.     B.  Cover Units:  L-shaped and U-shaped cross-section units
  107.         of flame retardant resin material, paintable finish.
  108.         1.  Resin:  B.F. Goodrich Co. "TempRite."
  109.         2.  Surface burning characteristics when tested in
  110.             accordance with ASTM E 84:
  111.             a.  Flame spread:  20.
  112.             b.  Smoke developed:  250.
  113.         3.  Unit length:  7.5 feet.
  114.         4.  Provide coupling fittings for joining units end to
  115.             end and prefabricated inside and outside corner
  116.             fittings and end caps.

  120.             NFPA 13 4-inch drop assembly requirements.

  124.     C.  Pipe Hangers for CPVC Piping:  Manufactured by cover
  125.         system manufacturer; UL listed; requiring no special
  126.         tools for installation.
  127.         1.  For supporting piping only:  "Snap-2" hangers.
  128.         2.  For supporting both piping and covers:  "Combo"
  129.             hangers that automatically position pipe in cover.

  131.     D.  Pipe Hangers for Copper and Steel Piping:  Design and
  132.         dimensions compatible with cover system; UL listed.
  133. NOTE ** Delete the following paragraph if the covers are to
  134.         be left unpainted or if painting is to be done by
  135.         some entity other than the installer of the covers.
  136.         In the latter case, specify painting in Division 9.

  138.     E.  Paint:  Acrylic latex; color to match adjoining surfaces.

  141. PART 3  EXECUTION

  143. 3.1 INSTALLATION
  144.  
  145.     A.  Install in accordance with the manufacturer's
  146.         instructions and recommendations.
  147. NOTE ** Delete the following paragraph if the covers are
  148.         being installed on existing piping.  Otherwise,
  149.         coordinate the section number and title with the
  150.         actual section where the piping installation is
  151.         specified.

  153.     B.  See Section 13980 - Fire Protection Piping for
  154.         requirements for installation of piping.  Space hangers
  155.         supporting piping in accordance with applicable
  156.         requirements.
  157.  
  158.     C.  Space hangers and mounting clips supporting covers to
  159.         hold the covers and fittings firmly against the mounting
  160.         surface without gaps or unpleasant appearance.
  161.  
  162.     D.  Install cover units using coupling fittings and corner
  163.         units as required.
  164. NOTE ** Delete the following paragraph if the covers are to
  165.         be left unpainted or if painting is to be done by
  166.         some entity other than the installer of the covers.
  167.         In the latter case, specify painting in Division 9.

  169.     E.  Paint entire cover assembly.  Cover sprinkler heads
  170.         carefully during painting and remove covering completely
  171.         immediately after painting.
